Mothers, Today, the congress drowned in the Han River. I cry in the gutter where only flies and mosquitoes come. Fathers, Today, the congress became the gavel for dictatorship. The sound of the gavel became the sound of destroyed truths. Brothers, I should have become a policeman rather than a legislator. For there is no single guardian protecting any truth. Sisters, I should have become a poet rather than a politician. For I cannot sing this violence with my eyes. Friends, I should have become a painter rather than a congressman. For I have to paint this dark night with the darkest color. Midday, On an eerie midday when the Sun hides, They executed the eclipse of history. They snatched truths and tossed them in the gutter And have made them become the prey of mice and mosquitoes. Dictatorship feasts on truths and justice, and then bursts and dies. There was no day. On an eclipse of the sun when there was no day, Dogs of dictatorship gorged themselves on truths. We are bare-handed against the invaders. To end this eclipse of history I will walk on a path towards becoming a policeman, becoming a painter. To end this justice-swallowing dark eclipse I will become a farmer carrying a hoe, will become a blacksmith making a hammer, will become a sharp arrow and fly. will burn brighter than candlelight.
To end this eclipse of history, To end this dark change with our own hand, We should become lanterns as bright as daylight. As the Sun doesn't hide even when covered by the moon and clouds, Our victory is already promised.
Friends, sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers! To retrieve these stolen days Let's become the lanterns of history. By Chun, Jungbae, congressman of the Democratic Labor party |
